ACCIDENT MANAGEMENT WITH MANY VICTIMS

Medic’Air has the capacity to manage crisis situations worldwide in the aftermath of any kind of accident, disaster or terrorist attack.

It is managed by implementation of Crash Buster plan that consists of two main steps :

  • A static approach – by creating a case supervised by one of our ‘Operations’ platform. This dedicated team is responsible for collecting the relevant information, they will locate the wounded and people involved, establish medical reports and be the link between the various services intervening and the client.
  • A dynamic approach – by the immediate sending of a team consisting of at least one experienced doctor and logistician, as closely as possible to the zone of crash to meet involved and wounded people, to gather the medical and logistic information, to link with local and consular authorities, give a first psychological aid to the involved.

The main mission here is to inform and reassure people involved, and then to organize possible evacuations, depending on the context, considering the needs and time importance.

Crash Buster plan can be started in a few hours for duration of a few days. It is a preparation phase either for rapid evacuations or to an intervention of longer duration by other teams.

Among the most frequently used aircrafts :

The Piaggio Avanti 2 allows flights over medium distances at an economical cost per kilometer traveled. Its pressurization is remarkable and its cabin space particularly silent.

Spacious cabin evacuates two patients on stretcher requiring intensive care over long distances

The Challenger 604 is the vector of choice for very long distances with a reinforced or doubled medical team and several family members on board.

To respond to the most urgent cases in Africa, Medic’Air Afrique’s medical teams can intervene from Morocco, day or night, by ambulance plane as well as by airliner. They have full quality medical and intensive care equipment seconded from Paris and according to our same internal maintenance standards.

From their departure base, they intervene without delay in a large majority of African countries and the Middle East by using locally the evacuation vectors (helicopter or plane) of our referenced providers.

These aircraft meet the aeronautical standards of their country of origin.

These ambulance flights make it possible to extract patients in difficulty on isolated sites for regional hospitalization or continuity by airliner or by a second ambulance plane from Paris to Europe or the country of origin

On other continents, and in particular, in Asia, Medic’Air has referenced quality national ambulance operators to carry out urgent patient evacuations to the best regional hospitals.

Thus the Shanghai Operations platform is able to trigger an evacuation by ambulance plane from China, South East Asia, India,… the peaceful zone… by controlling the technical level of the medical teams engaged in relation to the pathology foreshadowed by the patient.

In more complex cases, Medic’Air Shanghai then brought one of the resuscitation teams from Paris on long-distance ambulance flights to its Asia Pacific zone.

All these missions are under the supervision of the supervising doctors and nurses, with “bed-to-bed” support and permanent monitoring throughout the flight.

This plan, implemented within a few hours, will make it possible to obtain the essential information from the start of the crisis, then discuss it with the assessment team once there to allow the best care of all victims locally.

Secondly, this cell anticipates and participates in the organization of possible evacuations.

It is regularly activated – always for very limited times – two to three days maximum – and allows problems to be resolved as soon as possible before the situation gets bogged down locally.
