A CONSTANT FOCUS ON TECHNOLOGICAL IMPROVEMENT

In order to secure its leading position in the field of Air Ambulance evacuations, Medic’Air International constantly focuses on adapting its means of intervention, should it be in regards of the emergence of new pathologies or the evolution of the global geopolitical context.

Medic’Air International has therefore developed a privileged working relationship with structures such as the WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION (WHO), EUROPEAN COMMISSION HUMANITARIAN OFFICE (ECHO), FRENCH MINISTRIES OF HEALTH, DEFENCE and FOREIGN AFFAIRS, UNIVERSITY OF PARIS V – RENE DESCARTES or training simulation developpers EMERGENSIM.

BIORISK AIR TRANSPORT PROCEDURE REGARDING EBOLA OR CORONAVIRUS INFECTED PATIENTS

In 2011, the BAT procedure, developed in association with DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS and involving the use of individual isolation bubbles, has made Medic’Air International the first European company to evacuate humanitarian workers affected by hemorrhagic fever in western Africa (Lassa fever in 2011, Ebola fever in 2015).

Available 24/7 for the evacuation of patients affected by contagious diseases, Medic’Air will only evacuate patients suffering from Coronavirus for its registered partners.

ECMO – EXTRA-CORPORAL MEMBRANE OXYGENATION

Medic’Air is the only company in the world capable of setting up, within hours, a full surgical team trained to install an extra-corporal membrane oxygenation device (ECMO) on patients, regardless of age or location, in order to proceed to their evacuation towards an adequate medical ward.

NANOMAX ULTRASOUND SCANNER – ON-BOARD ALERE LABORATORY

Medic’Air teams are equipped with an on-board blood analysis device (electrolytes, gasometers, hemoglobin, lactate) and a portable ultrasound scanner, allowing diagnosis and monitoring on any patient during evacuation, should it be during a flight or ground transportation.

Equipment for an air ambulance or commercial flight evacuation on a stretcher includes an electronic stethoscope and an AIRTRAQ-type intubation device, as well as the standard ICU equipment. This equipment provides our regularly trained teams with the capacity to effectively face any complex or difficult medical situation. Our medical and operations teams follow this principle of resilience on a daily basis.

PLYO – LYOPHILIZED PLASMA / FREEZE DRIED PLASMA

Following a tripartite agreement with the FRENCH ARMIES BLOOD TRANSFUSION CENTER and the FRENCH BLOOD INSTITUTE, Medic’Air is the first civilian structure with unlimited access to freeze dried plasma. This product advantageously replaces Fresh Frozen Plasma (FFP) and supplements the packed cell units that are available 24/7 in case of short notice missions requiring blood transfusions.

ACUTE MALARIA

In order to treat and evacuate patients affected by acute malaria, Medic’Air teams now have access to Artesunate in addition to the use of quinine sulfate, following a special authorization of import and use delivered by the FRENCH NATIONAL AGENCY FOR MEDICAL AND HEALTH PRODUCTS SAFETY (ANSM) and a temporary use authorization from the Infectious diseases department from La Pitié-Salpétrière Hospital in Paris, France.

CRASH BUSTER PROCEDURE

In a context marked by constant terrorist threat, Medic’Air International has developed the Crash Buster Procedure, allowing management and evacuation of patients in case of an attack or of a major accident.

It also applies to any unexpected situation in which a high number of patients in a foreign country would require an immediate management, with evacuation for main focus.

Medic’Air International has been solicited during the In Amenas hostage crisis in south Algeria in 2013, as well as regarding evacuation of victims of the Bardo National Museum attack in Tunis in March 2015 and of the Hotel Splendid in Ouagadougou in January 2016.
